Residents of California (under the CCPA/CPRA) and of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. This page explains the position at Choicetide and the routes available.

What Changes

Expect generic advertising rather than none. The sharing stops immediately; the ad slots may remain. Access, content and functionality on choicetide.com are identical whether or not you have opted out.

What ‘Sale’ and ‘Share’ Mean

We should be clear about scope. Your personal information is not sold for money. Where advertising is served, though, identifiers may be shared with advertising partners, and because these laws define ‘sale’ and ‘sharing’ expansively, that sharing may fall within them. The opt-out is offered on that basis.

This holds for all readers of choicetide.com, whether they have interacted with us or not.

Ways to Opt Out

The quickest route needs no message from you at all: enable Global Privacy Control in your browser or as an extension. We detect and honour that signal automatically on every visit. Alternatively, set your preference in the cookie consent banner where one is shown, or email hello@choicetide.com with ‘Do Not Sell or Share’ as the subject line. No account is needed, and we do not require you to create one.
